A: Icarus1 was the fist version of the synth it was released around 2014. Around 2018 it was replaced with Icarus 2. The latest version is Icarus 3.1.
Downward compatibility:
All older presets work in the most recent version. All your existing songs and patches can be loaded without any further steps necessary and will benefit from the enhanced sound-quality.

AkustiX Enhancer / AkustiX on MacOS Sequoia
Last post by Markus Krause - July 08, 2025, 12:08:35 PMApple has dropped the downward compatibility for older installers. As a result, AkustiX is not longer compatible with MacOS Sequoia.
It is not possible to add compatibility for it with reasonable effort.
However one of our customers was able to make it work:
"There is a workaround for you though, if you extract the VST and Audiounit files with software like Pacifist and copy them to your plugins folder "HD / Library / Audio / Plug-Ins..." (To the VST and Components folder) Then it will work on Mac if you run Akustix through Rosetta."
It is not possible to add compatibility for it with reasonable effort.

- Setup detects the correct VST plugin directory automatically.
- Linear instead of circular knob movement.
- Faster loading.
- Frequency resonse display is also animated when plugin does not process audio.
- canParameterBeAutomated is supported now.
- BiFilter2.dat is not longer placed to the plugins directory.
- Several minor fixes and enhancements.
Changes:
- It is not longer necessary to enter a serial number.
- The Icarus 3 demo can optionally be installed with the setup. We hope that more people give it a try!

- A warning message does not longer show on installing to an existing Vstplugin directory.
- Fixed a possible crash (audioMasterBeginEdit).

What is BiFilter?
BiFilter is a stereo multi-mode filter with a selection of 47 different sounding filter types. These filters are known from our famous Gladiator synthesizer. You can combine all filters with 8 additional distortion types, FM, AM, wave-shaping and lo-fi effects to create new sounds. A high precision display shows the frequency response of the filter in real-time. Since you can always see and hear what's happening, BiFilter is very user-friendly.

- Bitcrush ? Reduces the bit rate of the audio to ?lo-fi?
- Waveshape ? This distortion type adds additional harmonics
- Pow2 ? Adds harmonics. It is similar to exciters

It's not possible to port BiFilter to Mac (Intel 64bit / M1) or VST3 with reasonable effort. So please don't us ask for it. ;-)
