What is BiFilter?
BiFilter is a stereo multi-mode filter with a selection of 47 different sounding filter types. These filters are known from our famous Gladiator synthesizer. You can combine all filters with 8 additional distortion types, FM, AM, wave-shaping and lo-fi effects to create new sounds. A high precision display shows the frequency response of the filter in real-time. Since you can always see and hear what's happening, BiFilter is very user-friendly.

Distortion types:
- Volume ? Drive controls the volume of the signal
- Tube Amp ? A soft-knee distortion
- Transistor ? An asymmetric distortion
- Presence ? A saturated distortion with falloff at higher levels
- Hard Clip ? A hard-knee distortion
- Bitcrush ? Reduces the bit rate of the audio to ?lo-fi?
- Waveshape ? This distortion type adds additional harmonics
- Pow2 ? Adds harmonics. It is similar to exciters
System requirements:
PC: Windows 7 / 8 / 10 / 11
Plugin format: 64-bit VST
It's not possible to port BiFilter to Mac (Intel 64bit / M1) or VST3 with reasonable effort. So please don't us ask for it. ;-)

Icarus / Quick Saving recently created ...
Last post by MarcH - June 30, 2025, 07:48:28 PMI'm making some patches for Icarus 3.1 today and noticed the following issue. The Quick Save option returns the following message:
"Your patch still has no name. Use save patch as....to store it".
Steps to reproduce:
Init a Patch
Give it a name and save it. (Save Patch As)
Select "Quick Save Patch"
The "Your patch still has no name" dialog box pops up.
There is an image of the dialog box in the Icarus 3.1 thread at KVR Audio. I'm on Win 11 and the issue has also been confirmed by one other user on Mac OS 15.5
Let me know if you need any further information.

Icarus / Re: Icarus feature requests
Last post by Burkuagh - June 30, 2025, 08:28:20 AMI am not a big fan of the tool tips because they get in the way and they do not disappear when using the mousewheel on parameters, hiding the number. I use shift+mousewheel to make a lot of my adjustments and when needing to make equal adjustments to multiple parameters, like osc volume, it annoys me so I keep it turned off.

This trick in Icarus3 does also help to find the right number quickly: When you hover with the mouse over an matrix entry a popup tooltip appears. Here you can see the number of the matrix slot.
If you disabled tooltips: Go to setup and click on 'Tooltips enabled/disabled' on the right bottom box.

Last post by Burkuagh - June 30, 2025, 12:14:52 AMSmall feature request. In the mod matrix view number the matrix slots so I can more easily modulate matrix sends. I don't like having to stop and count matrix slots to make sure I am modulating the correct one. I would love this for all your synths.

The update is available for free for all Icarus 3 cusotomers.
New features:
- MPE support for Legato and Mono modes.
- Added support for custom skins.
- 'Load Sample' and 'Load Waveform' in the wavetable editor remember the last file location.
Enhancements:
- Pitchwheel snaps less aggressively to 50%.
- The new default skin makes it easier to see the structure of the synth. You can change back to the old one in SETUP->Select skin.-
- Many small enhancements.
Fixes:
- Workaround for a bug of Windows 11 that messed up the vertical layout of the SeggoeUI font.
- Fix for a very rare compatibility problem with trackpads on the Mac.
Downward compatibility
Icarus 3.1 is downward compatible with all previous versions. All existing song projects and patches can be loaded without any further steps necessary. They will benfit from the enhanced sound-quality.

Icarus / Custom skins for Icarus 3.1

Icarus3 comes with 27 styles/skins for the GUI you can select them in 'setup'-> 'Select skin'. Then restart the plugin.
Creating your own skins:
Warning! You should only use custom skins this if you're experienced with graphics design and using computers. You should be aware that you can mess up things and there can be technical issues. If you decide to use custom skins do this at your own risk.
You require Icarus 3.1 or newer.
PC:
1) Open Icarus in your DAW and go to 'setup'. Select 'Default' as skin.
2) Close all instances of Icarus in your DAW
3) Find Icarus_data folder inside your VST-Folder. Create a file called Icarus3SkinLarge.png within your Icarus_data directory. The size must be 2505 x 1470 pixels.
You can use one of the default skins as a template:

Unistall: To deinstall the skin just delete "Icarus3SkinLarge.png" from the Icarus_data folder.
Mac:

2) Find Icarus.vst inside your VST-Folder (/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/) and make a backup of it to your desktop or somewhere safe.
3) Right-click on Icarus.vst and choose 'Show Package Contents'. Navigate to Contents/Resources Folder.
4) Replace one of these images:
- bmp00252.png (This one if for the metal design).
- bmp00268.png (This one if for the dark design).
- bmp00255.png (This one if for the plastic design).
The size must be 2505 x 1470 pixels.
You can use one of the default skins as a template:

Changing the colors of the waveforms and knob-circles:
The color of the waveforms and the circles around the knobs can be altered if you select one of the 'Metal' skins like 'Metal fire' instead of 'Default'. Then restart the synth.
What happens technically is that eveything including the background image is 'hue rotated'.
