Inharmonic fm
« on: August 25, 2020, 04:42:55 PM »
Hello again Markus!

Been experimenting with the Fm in Icarus. It sounds very good, but sometimes i want a more inharmonic sound for stuff like fx, bells etc. I've been trying out the various interval options but can't really get there soundwise. So i humbly ask if you have any tips for me as to get a more inharmonic fm sound (as in changing the ratios in dx7 etc). Is this possible within one Oscillator?

Thanks

Hello Tellor,

Inharmonic FM using only one osciallator:

- Select FM Sine 3x as morph mode
- open the wavetable editor
- Init -> init selection silence
- Click on Spectrum and draw partials which are prime numbers like 7, 11, 13

Inharmonic FM:

- In OSC1 select FM-> OSC3 . OSC1 is now the carrier and OSC3 the modulator
- Select a sinoid waveform for OSC3 or draw single partials with the wavetable-editor

Best Regards,
Markus

Example patch:

Select Bell as category and load Gentle Bell MF
