Public Beta 1 (deprecated)
« on: June 09, 2016, 03:35:12 PM »
PC version:

https://tone2.com/Tone2_Icarus.zip

Mac version:

https://tone2.com/Tone2_Icarus.pkg

Stability:

Apart from a hand full of minor problems the beta has been reported to be very stable in all hosts. It is safe to use it for productions.
Fruity Loops users must go to the processing options and select 'use fixed size buffers' and 'Allow threaded processing'.

Known bugs:

When the plugin runs in demo mode it somtimes can produce a hanging tone after 30 minutes. The full version is not affected by this.
Of course all bugs, which should still be present in the beta, will be solved before the release. The update will be for free.

Klingt sehr gut Markus, gerade die Resynthesis/Vocoder Engine  8)

Because it's announced for end of June, will you provide an option for the public beta testers to buy a license right now?

https://secure.shareit.com/shareit/cart.html?PRODUCT%5B300739107%5D=1&backlink=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tone2.com%2Fhtml%2Fshop.html&cookies=1

Mit dem link erhälst Du ein keyfile. Mit diesem wird die Demo zur Vollversion.

Schönes Wochende,
Markus

Loving Icarus! Rock solid so far.

Why there are only stereo and non-stereo unison modes rather than a stereo spread control?
Any plans for OSC semitone adjustment along with octave?
***GUI observations***
- Would be more intuitive to have banks above presets.
- Might look better if the knobs were rendered from straight down perspective. i.e. the GUI is flat but the knobs look like you are viewing them from beneath.
- LEDs could be better
- Would be cool if you were able to show modulation amounts visually around knobs (like Sugarbytes Factory / Serum).

Oh wow, I just tested this beauty of a beast for some hours and around every corner, there are more possibilities for soundshaping. Excellent, I like it very much. Only concern so far: Please make a version with inverted base colour scheme, meaning black text on light background. I found that there are several colour schemes available, but they seem to only change the knobs and waveforms etc. White letters on black background are very hard to my eyes.  ???
Otherwise: I already know where my next money goes! :)

Cheers

Hello Dumbo,

I will check out if i can add such a color scheme. I am glad that you like Icarus so much. :-)

Hallo Chakko,

1) Surround encode effect laden

Matrix->Decay 4ms bis 16s

15 zusätzliche Sinus-LFOs:
Matrix->Sine 1/64 Hz bis 16Hz

2 zusätzliche Brick/Hold-Envelopes:
Matrix->Keyressed

Viele Grüsse,
Markus

HI Markus and Troel,

you can find here my ICARUS observations:

"anomalies":

-FL studio 11.1 x64
*in the FL wrapper, don't allow keyboard focus selected*
icarus steal under condition the Daw shortcut:
play/stop if the mouse move, ok if the mouse dones't move
the arrow up/down is the Piano roll can change the Icarus preset( if icarus is open in background)
I had Nemesis & Electra2.1: never had this issue with this 2 synth-on the same Daw/config-

-the custom folder is missing in the presets folder
-the directory works great for "save fx" -the browser open everytime the good directory,
but not for the Save as preset, i'm must choose the browser
-When All modules are on the Off Position, Icarus have a noise Floor of -96 db(in All my Daw)
-In FL Studio : setting: use fixe size buffer, one instance of Icarus works normally,
2 instances cause some spike-crackle/no cpu overload/ remove the option: allow  threaded processing: no crackle anymore( doesn't occurs in Reaper)

in the Osc window, sometimes the tool menu doesn't appears, i must close the plugin editor and open it again for have access
to the Osc editor(append 2 time during the weekend)

-crash ( 2 times) when i try to open the OSC Edit, happend when Edisson is open, perhaps an Icarus FL incompatibility.(not reproducible )

-the "apply morph to Wavetable" with the vocod morph differ from the original morph mode
(i can send you a preset if you want -vocod morph:Osc 1 original with the morph- Osc2 morph Apply-)
-FL studio access Violation-see screen capture-after close open, the ui deseaper,
the access Violation message appears, icarus ui was Black, close/open again and the ui re-appears normally but Fl crash.
-in the Fx section, fx : surround encode, the mix knob is a On/Off(not a big problem but it' a great tool for transform a stereo signal in mono)

- REaPer V5.16 x64:
When drawning the step lfo with the Right click, the midi learn on the master Volume become active(red midilearn)

A wish list:

-in the Wavetable editor :

a select all frame
a Osc1/2/3 switch
an option to follow the WT frame during play &/or add the Osc wave knob
a value indicator for : mix/filter....

-OSC/filter
-the ability to have an osc in direct out mode
( if the osc is not engage in the filter section, this osc is not route to the fx section directly in the master-great
 for clean sub)
(we can do it if one osc in pan on the right and in the fx routing(left FX1+Rightfx2)fx3 but it utilise one fx slot
 and one filter for nothing)

-in the Osc tool menu the possibility to render the master output in WT- (Apply output to WT)

-in the FX tool menu : a copy current fx to 1/2 or 3 Or a swap tool(swap 1 to 2 ...)

-in the fx a multi band compressor could be usefull for compress before a reverb( the Limiter is after the reverb)
(we can approximate  that with 2 multiband-distortion in serie with the drive at 0 but it take 2 fx slots)

-a play option  in the Resynthesis / load Wt / vocoder search browser could be usefull

-in all Tone2 synth, we can find some pre-define-ready to use modulation-,eg, filter mod by Lfo3,wave by Lfo1...
it could be usefull to click on the mod name and have the choice beetwen mod(lfo1/2/3..)

-the Master Volume knob is before the Limiter(why not,it's usefull sometimes!)a output gain in the limiter could be great

Cheers.

I can confirm the hick ups without processor overflow or underruns when using multiple instances. CPU usage is low, but i get dropouts. Other plugins work like they should.

tested:

FL Studio 12.2, 12.3 beta3, Reaper 5.2x, Ableton 9.6
Warlock_Icarus_Gladiator2/3_RayBlaster2_Nemesis_Saurus2_Electra2(x)_BiFilter2_Filterbank3_Warmverb

Thanks for the feedback. I will check out all your points.

Important info for the Fruity users:

1) Go to the processing options in Fruity Loops and select 'use fixed size buffers' and 'Allow threaded processing'. Otherwise the fruity wrapper will cause random CPU spikes on Tone2 plugins and plugins of several other companies.

2) If you use Fruity Loops always use the 32 bit plugin and not the 64 bit version. Fruity Loops, although it is advertised differently, is no native 64 bit host. It is a native 32 bit host which uses a built-in bitbridge as adapter. The bitbridge is known to be not the most stable one and can cause instabilities and other strange side effects. Furthermore it adds an additonal layer of processing which always slows down performance. Using 64 bit plugins in Fruity Loops offers no advantage compared to using native 32 bit plugins.

@Kokette: Please test if the oddities disappear if you use the 32 bit version if Icarus in Fruity.
I'll check out all your reports.
I added your requests to the feature request thread. I can implement some of them in future updates.

@exmatproton: Make sure that you enabled multicore support in your hosts. Icarus has been designed to distribute CPU load on up to 3 cores.
