How to use the Vocoder in Warmverb

(1/1)

Markus Krause:
Warmverb can be completely controled by midi.

There are three ways to control the vocoder:
- You can either send Midi Notes to warmverb (not all hosts support this)
- You can use automation
- You can send midi CCs to warmwerb

MIDI CC Mapping
The default Midi CC mapping is:

Midi CC Destination
7 Volume
12 Bypass
14 Fx1Par1
15 Fx1Par2
16 Fx1Par3
17 Fx1Par4
18 Fx2Par1
19 Fx2Par2
20 Fx2Par3
21 Fx2Par4
22 Fx3Par1
23 Fx3Par2
24 Fx3Par3
25 Fx3Par4
26 Fx4Par1
27 Fx4Par2
28 Fx4Par3
29 Fx4Par4
75 EqLow
76 EqMid
77 EqHigh
91 Mix
92 Fx1Mix
93 Fx2Mix
94 Fx3Mix
95 Fx4Mix

There are 2 different vocoder modes: 'Vocoder' and 'Vocoder L R'.

'Vocoder': Use it on a vocal track as insert effect. The vocal track is the modulator. The carrier sound is generated from Warmverb. Use the controls wave, tune and chord for the spectral content. Use automation or Midi for setting the tune.

'Vocoder LR': Use it as an insert effect (master effect) on a vocal track (left channel, modulator) and a synth track (right channel, carrier). Use the synth to play the tune.

A large part of VST hosts can not send Midi notes to effect plugins. The ones which can do this are rather difficult to configure and most users won't be able to handle this.

An easy way to play own melodies is too feed 'Vocoder LR' with the melody of a VST synth (pan to right) and a vocal track (pan to left). You should use bright and rich waveforms like sawtooth on the synth. You can also play stacked chords.
