VST3 version for PC (beta)

VST3 version for PC (beta)

Download-link:
https://www.tone2.com/update/Tone2_VST3_PC_beta1.zip

Warning:

This is a beta that still can contain bugs.
You only should install the VST3 version for testing or if your host does not support VST2.

For you as a producer there is no need at all to migrate to VST3 quickly. All hosts that currently support VST2 will continue to do this also for a very long time in the future.
Unlike what Steinberg advertises in their marketing, VST3 does offer no significant advantages for synthesizers compared to VST2. The opposite is even true. VST3 does not offer proper Midi support and suffers also from other design flaws.

Installation:

1) Run the installer for the VST2 plugin (you can get it here: https://www.tone2.com/download.html)

2) Run the standalone app by clicking on the icon on your desktop. Then close the standalone.

3) Copy the .vst3 file to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\ .
Do only copy .vst3 files of the products that you really have installed on your computer (e.g. copy only Icarus.vst3 when you already installed Icarus)! Otherwise important files are missing and the host will not detect the VST3 plugin.

4) Your DAW should now display the VST3 version

If you should experience problems, please submit a bug-report:

Will VST3 version get the VST3 added features like "audio in" for instruments? Since there is no demo version of the Multi-FX plugin and it doesn't seem to match the amount of FX in Icarus2? It would be nice to use all Tone 2 effects on external sources. Retrologue 2 by Steinberg and Twin 2 by Fabfilter are the only synths I know that can be played and have a sidechain input in Cubase thus far. Would be nice to see "audio in" or an update to Multi-FX.

Hello Abject,

Audio IN is not a VST3 feature. It's also possible with VST2 and AudioUnit.
I've noted your request for the ability to use Icarus as an effects unit.

Have a nice weekend,
Markus
