Please report problems during the beta within this thread or send an email to markus[a t]tone2[dot]com . Please keep in mind that we can't add features or fix issues after the release.   Wink

RayBlaster 2.5 beta:

The update to v2.5 is a major update, which is available for free. It includes exciting new features, enhanced sound quality, 43 additional patches, many enhancements for the user interface and some fixes.
RayBlaster 2.5 is downward compatible with all previous versions. All existing song projects and patches can be loaded without any further steps necessary. They will benefit from the enhanced sound quality.

Download link:

https://www.tone2.com/download.html

New features:

- 'Edit->Create Random Patch' can create an unlimited number of complex and mostly useful sounds automatically.
- Tooltips with explanations are shown when the mouse is hovered over a button or control.
- The tooltips can be hidden with Help->'Hide tooltips'.
- The menus now show check-marks for the currently selected item.
- Automatic and dynamic micro-tuning for enhanced chords.
- Knobs can be reset to the default value with a double-click.
- A hand-symbol is shown for text parameters which can be altered.
- Support for the 'natural-scrolling-mousewheel' on the Mac.
- Clicking a diode now also changes the LFO waveform on the Mac.
- 43 additional patches
- 4 additional waveforms

Enhanced sound quality:

- More linear frequency response above 6kHz. RayBlaster has a less 'sharp' overall sound and sounds more 'high-end'.
- 'Delay', 'Delay Dual','Delay Band','PingPong' and 'Multitap' sound less detuned.
- The late-reflections of 'Reverb Large', 'Reverb Medium', 'Reverb Small', 'Reverb Feedb' and 'Reverb Plate' sound less detuned.
- Smoother sound of 'Reverb Ultra' and 'Reverb Trance'

Enhancements for the GUI:

- Better mouse-wheel support on PC.
- A midi-program-change does not longer change the patch category.
- The menus are larger and easier to read.
- Patch category is now located above the patch selector
- Unison is easier to set up
- Several small enhancements for the GUI.

Further Enhancements:

- Slightly faster loading of patches

Changes:

- The 'handbook' is now a 'manual'

Fixes:

- Fixed a compatibility problem with recording automation in some hosts.
- Fixed a rarely appearing crash, which could happen after many midi-program-changes.
- The visual appearance of the modulation-depth of knobs could have been incorrect if a matrix target was switched.
- Fixed some wrong pixels which could happen after clicking the unison button.

Hi Three Wish list comments.

1. Would be nice if as you started in Gladiator 3, continued the move of your resource files into Library/Application Support/Tone 2 and not where they current are.

2. Would be nice if like on PC, Hide Keys did not break your GUI on Mac.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/m159uc96i527ypy/rb2%20pc.png?dl=0

and 3. I seem to recall that the white skin came when I purchased Future/Futuron sound bank.
How do I get the white gui to work in 2.5 on mac like it does on PC?

edit: re: hide keys on mac, the strange thing is that saurus hide keys works fine, just not nemesis and rayblaster.
thanks

I sent you and email with the installer.

Installing the futuron skins on the mac:
1) Completely close your host
2) Run the installer for Tone2_RayBlaster_Futuron_white_skin.pkg

---------

I did run some tests with the hidden keyboard. Here are my results:

On PC: All tested hosts work as expected

On Mac:
reaper x64 AU works
reaper x64 vst works
reaper x32 AU works
reaper x32 vst does not work properly
Ableton 8 x32 AU works
Ableton 8 x32 vst does not properly
Logic 9 AU works

In general GUI resizing is problematic, since not all hosts supported it. The plugin developers have to do many dirty tricks.

I also compared the GUI resizing code of Saurus with Rayblaster. They work slightly different. Changing the code is critical, since it might cause new problems in other hosts. Please confirm to me that hiding the keys within Saurus works properly in all your hosts on the mac that yoz have available. Keep a special eye on the 32bit vst version.

Best Regards,
Markus

Hi Markus,
Thanks.
Will look out for the installer.
The hosts I use are Cubase, Komplete Kontrol, Maschine and Studio One Pro....I haven't tried it on the last one but indeed on Cubase, KK and Maschine hiding the keys is problematic.
But yes Saurus hide keys works perfect (and has been for awhile) on all the Hosts/Daws I have.
I don't use 32 bit versions and haven't in years... All of this is at 64 bit.
thanks

Got the email thanks and got the gui changed to white on the mac.

I can also now confirm that Studio one Pro also has the issue on my mac.

I can not confirm keyboard problems for any AU version or 64 bit vst version. The problem seems to be 32 bit vst on the Mac only.

Hmm do you have any of my four hosts?
All of them have it in 64 bit
Cubase, Komplete Kontrol, Maschine and Studio One Pro.
I would imagine you must have Cubase to test?
As shown in my screen shots.

Please test this and be specific which version you are using (32 bit / 64 bit /AU / VST) and which one causes the gui redraw problems:

- AU version of RB 2.5 instead of the VST version on Mac. I could not reproduce problems with the AU versions (32 bit or 64bit) on my system at all

Please confirm:

The VST and the AU version of Saurus work as expected in all your environments (32 bit and 64 bit)

We have received no reports of problems with the PC version during the last years. It does affect Mac only.

i do not use AU at all, ever. As a matter of fact once your mac installer finishes, I immediately go to the component folder and delete the AU, before I do anything else.
It is vst 64bit on mac and pc I use.
As you quite rightly say on PC no issues,
it is only on Mac, using vst 64bit on those four hosts I mentioned that Nemesis and Rayblaster have the issue but Saurus doesn't.

I uploaded a new version for the Mac (full). It now uses the same GUI resizing code as Saurus. So far it seems to work now also with hosts which fail to resize GUIs on loading a plugin.

Drum Roll!!
It works in all four of the hosts now.
Thank you so much.
Initially it looked like it wasn't working, that is close gui, reopen gui.
But once I removed that instance and tried a new instance, all is well now.
Hopefully I can remember the next time you update Nemesis to remind you to add this fix to it too.
thanks
