Hi,

I just made a new demo song based on presets i created with Tone2 Saurus. I already had the MIDI data for a while and used this for testing some new sounds usually. Now i made a track using Saurus for all sounds except drums.
This demo song is based on "Abacab" from Genesis which is one of my favorite songs. For this track i used 7 instances of Tone2 Saurus with 5 different presets which were all created by myself. Drums are from the Tactile Sounds TS-808 drum synth.
As external FXs the Stillwell Audio VibeEQ (per part) and the Stillwell Audio Bombardier Buss Compressor (Master Bus) were used.
The sounds used for the song except the polysynth sound are not supposed to be exact 1:1 copies of the original sounds. Synths used in the original song were a SCI Prophet 10 for the organ and an ARP Quadra for the polysynth sound.

link for the audio demo:

A download of the WAV file with higher quality is available here:
https://rapidshare.com/files/713271187/Ingo_Weidner_-_Abacab_Saurus_Remix.zip

I have not published this at KVR so far but maybe will do later.

A Soundcloud set of all my Saurus demos is available here:
http://soundcloud.com/ingoweidner/sets
I will add future additions there too.

More WAV files for tracks of that set are available here:

Best wishes and have fun with Saurus,
Ingo

Hi Bastiaan,

many  thanks for your kind words. The original Abacab song was really a masterpiece IMO. I am am really a huge Genesis fan (and Phil Collins too) since i was around 12 or 13 years old.
Funny thing that Tony Banks used a SCI Prophet 10 for the Organ and not a real Hammond.

It was real fun to create sounds with Saurus for doing that Abacab track (i already had the MIDI data for a while). The workflow and the sound quality of Saurus are really great.

I had made a factory preset of the polysynth sound from Abacab for the Quadra Kontakt synth from Synth Magic:
http://www.synthmagic.co.uk/quadra.htm
Steve Porter from Synth Magic also made a few audio demos for my commercial "Atmospheric Transients" soundbank for the Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V. The last one he made is here:

Best wishes,
Ingo

Hi Markus,

yes i would like to join. Currently (since the official release of Saurus) i got around 20 "raw" or unoptimized new presets for Saurus which should be part of an upcoming  soundbank for Saurus.
I currently got a day job as a physics teacher at a high school so this could take a little time but based on the current speed i hope not too long.

I'll write an email to Bastiaan very soon.

UPDATE:
E-mail to Bastiaan is sent.

Here is another demo song made with sounds i just created with Saurus:
http://soundcloud.com/ingoweidner/oxygene-4-saurus-remix

The WAV file is available here:
https://rapidshare.com/files/2930551633/Ingo_Weidner_-_Oxygene_4_Saurus_Remix.zip

Like in the Abacab example this is not an exact 1:1 replication of the original song. I just tried to replicate a few sounds like the Brass as good as possible.

That song was originally done back in 2010 with my factory sounds for the free Tactile Sounds Substance synth but never published until there was a KVR thread about JM Jarre sounds recently. The same song using my factory sounds for Substance and Tactile Sounds TS-808 for the drums could be found here:
http://soundcloud.com/ingoweidner/oxygene-4-substance-remix

In both versions no external FXs were used.

Hi Markus,

many thanks for your kind words. Those sounds/presets will be hopefully included in the expansion for Saurus.  :)

I have re-rendered the same song but this time i also created the Drum sounds (Hi Hats + Bass drum) with Saurus. The track contains 8 instances of Substance (using only my own sounds) and as an external FX the Stillwell Audio Bombardier Buss Compressor was used:

download for WAV file:
https://rapidshare.com/files/2382905123/Ingo_Weidner_-_Oxygene_4_Saurus_Remix.zip

BTW i deleted the old Soundcloud file and the old link for the WAV file.

Most of those sounds will hopefully be included in the first expansion for Saurus.

Best wishes,
Ingo

Hi, i have just finished my presets for Saurus and am working on demos.
As the first demos i re-rendered my "Oxygene 4" and "Abacab" tracks with a few updates (e.g. different or updated presets or drums in Abacab changed to Battery 3). There are two versions for each without any external FXs ("no FX") and with the Stillwell Audio VibeEQ equalizer used ("with EQ"). Here is the updated Soundcloud set:

http://soundcloud.com/ingoweidner/sets/saurus-demos/

The Abacab demo uses 7 instances of Saurus with 5 different presets and the drums are from NI Battery 3.
The Oxygene 4 demo uses 8 instances of Saurus including the drums. Both the Bass and the Strings preset are different to the last version i published.

BTW not all sound are supposed to sound identical to the original songs except the polysynth in Abacab and the Brass in Oxygene 4.

For better audio quality you could also check the WAV files here:
https://rapidshare.com/files/675215382/Ingo_Weidner_-_Oxygene_4_Saurus_Remix__no_FX_.zip
https://rapidshare.com/files/1117326937/Ingo_Weidner_-_Oxygene_4_Saurus_Remix__with_EQ_.zip

https://rapidshare.com/files/3850221744/Ingo_Weidner_-_Abacab_Saurus_Remix__with_EQ_.zip

For those interested in CPU use:  In none of the 4 tracks the CPU in Ableton Live 8 reached 30% on a Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, also for the tracks which use external FXs.

Great stuff Ingo! I''m really looking forward to your sounds.

I also nearly finished my part of the sounds for the Saurus soundset. I will submit them to Bastiaan today. My wife will be happy because she does not longer have to suffer from 'that strange noise all the time'.  :D

I am looking forward to hear your and Bastiaan's sounds too. I liked those included in Saurus and ElectraX, also in the ElectraX expansions.
