BiFilter feature requests
« on: November 10, 2009, 05:16:48 PM »
This is the right place to post feature requests for BiFilter.
Please keep in mind that there are also techncial restrictions and we can not fullfill everyone's needs.

Hi,

Please make the controls LINEAR not circular (or at least have the option?).

Thanks!

How about a switchable external/direct signal sidechain input for envelope following? That would be uber cool for modulation filtering ;D

I'd also buy filterbank if it had the same feature.

Is this technically possible?

Thanks,

John

Update filter algorithms to newest, higher quality ones. Include oversampling, up to 4x at least.
audiosabre: envelope follower would be great. I've been waiting for years for this feature :).
Also, increase step resolution significantly.

I second this one. It turned me away on the demo.

i'd be in favour of an envelope generator ...

Hi!  I "third" this suggestion, and I wasn't turned away from the demo, because I can get amazing effects from this "little" plug-in.   ;)

I would _truly_ appreciate linear movement versus circular motion for the knobs (and this would be consistent with FilterBank3's behaviour, too).

Also, the circular motion kinda prohibits successful "fine" adjustments anyway.  (Without MIDI-learn implemented, circular motion is pretty useless, IMHumO.)

Should we have an option, too, for a "reset to preset value" on the parameters?

Finally, I would like to enter numeric values directly into the boxes -- is this possible?  (And I'd like numeric readouts for the "Drive" & "Dry/Wet" knobs, too -- could we right-click on the knobs and enter a value, perhaps?)

Thanks for reading!

+1 to linear control!

What I'd REALLY like to see is a switch to turn on/off knob interpolation... sometimes I want to jump from one value to another instantly using automation.  It always seems to be a smooth transition which doesn't give the intended effect in situations when you need really jumpy, nasty filter switching.

IMHO, the solution for circular vs. linear is to get a good external MIDI controller so that you have a real tactile control instead of a mouse, no software changes needed...

Hell of an expensive solution...you're kidding, right?  :D

And as far as wanting an envelope follower or lfo your sequencing software should have these.  I use FL studio and even it has them.

- True stereo processing with separate LFOs for left and right channel *
- ^ Selectable waveforms for the LFOs
- ^ "Link" button for L&R channels
- The new fractal filters available on ElectraX would be a great add-on ;)

*The option to modulate L&R channels with different settings will open new interesting scenarios.

I think Bifilter is just meant to be a straight forward simple filter plugin.  The kinds of features you are asking for belong more to Filterbank rather than Bifilter.  Filterbank has some of the stuff you are looking at and many of the same basic filters available in Bifilter.  If you haven't already you should check out Filterbank.

An Aliaser as a distortion type would be very handy.

Hello Burkuagh,

the 'Resample' Filter type is a very similar module. Click on 'Type' then 'Resample'. Cutoff controls the amount of aliasing.

Best Regards,
Markus
