Gladiator / Re: Creating a custom factory ...

Quotethere is no way to display my bank in the current Browser?
Unlike the other Tone2 synths you can't create a new directoy (=category) with patches that is automatically added when the synth is loaded. You'll have to replace facory.glb or use the 'load bank' button for your own content.

QuoteWill the factory patches not be there then?

The bank you're using as a replacement can contain whatever you like. This can be factory patches, your own ones or a a bank with a mixture of both.

Quotewhy does it work differently than your other synths?

The reason why it works differently than the other Tone2 synths is that the original Gladiator was developed nearly 2 decades ago. Back in the days the DAW was used for patch management and banks were stored in fxb files. People expect downward compatibility and still want to be able to load their old song project. The current solution is a compromise between performance, song file size, downward compatibility and DAW compatibility.
ElectraX was the first Tone2 synth with a new patch management. Here you are able to create new patch categories/directories. However the DAW is not longer able to manage the patches as it is technically necessary to expose only the currently loaded sound.

Regardless of various niggles here and there, Tone2 Gladiator and Waldorf Largo are still my 2 favorite plugins EVER.   Which both have...
a. a unique character of sound (despite their age)
b. low CPU requirements that still run older systems
c. innovative approaches to sound design
d. a fixed architecture that makes one squeeze creativity out of what is given.
Even is this modern world of too much feckery and choices...both still hold their ground.
IMHO
But i am just an old fart and that is just my opinion...lol

So ya, i basically figured out most of what you are saying from the previous version i was running (sans Browser version) But...So basically there is no way to display my bank in the current Browser? Which i can on your other synths i own,  I mean, it's not a huge deal i guess, but it would be more convenient than to load my bank from a folder everytime. If you could fix that i am sure a lot of users would be overjoyed. On the last point you mentioned ..."Creating your own custom factory bank:
Go to the installation directory and there to 'Gladiator3_data'. Create a backup of Factory.glb. Then overwrite the file with 'save bank (.glb)..
Gladiator will automatically load this bank on loading."  Will the factory patches not be there then? It would also be nice to have an INNIT bank as a blank slate. Just saying.

PS...I got a Bavarian Tyrolean hat for my birthday...lol, Love it!

Hello Dumtek,

Gladiator 4 is download compatible. You can load patches created in all previous versions.

The patch management however works differently than in other Tone2 synths.

Store a single patch:
Within Gladiator click on the save button and select 'save patch (.glp)'

Store a bank with all patches:
Within Gladiator click on the save button and select 'save bank (.glb)'

Store all patches of a bank separately (I am not sure if this also works with the mac version):
Within Gladiator click on the save button and select 'save bank (.glb) ...'
Then select 'Gladiator signle presets (*.glp) as a file format

Load a bank:
Within Gladiator click on the load button and select 'Load bank (*.glb)'

Load a single patch:
Within Gladiator click on the load button and select 'Load patch (*.glp)'.
Here you can also load several patches at once if you pick more than one glp files with holding down the mouse button. Then 'Open'.

Creating your own custom factory bank:
Go to the installation directory and there to 'Gladiator3_data'. Create a backup of Factory.glb. Then overwrite the file with 'save bank (.glb)..'
Gladiator will automatically load this bank on loading.

Gladiator / Creating a custom factory bank
Last post by Dumtek - January 14, 2026, 08:52:19 PM
Hey Markus...as a proud owner and user of Elektra, Icarus, Saurus, and as of today Gladiator 4 i am a bit confused. With my previous version of Gladiator I saved my patches and banks and could pull the in via  the previous brawser LOAD button or the Renoise LOAD BANK function even if they did not show up in the Browser as a category. I can do this with all the other plugins of yours. How do i pull up or even start up or even store my own Banks? I like to start with an INNIT bank and add my own patches. Is this even possible? Where do I store tem? Is 4 backwards compatible?
REALLY confused here. HELP!

EDIT..OK i can load my BANKS it seems, silly me, is there a way to store it in the Browser?

UltraSpace / Re: UltraSpace Installer file ...
Last post by Markus Krause - January 12, 2026, 12:12:23 PM
Hello Eric,

UltraSpace is M1 compatible (with Rosetta), but there exists no M1 native version. It's is not possible to create a AAX / VST3 / M1 native with reasonable effort.
If a plugin does not show up on the Mac, it helps to reboot the computer.

Mac formats: VST2, AudioUnit (AU)

Product installation

1) Exit your DAW (e.g. Logic, Cubase, Ableton...). Make sure that you really quit the software properly! If you just minimize it the installation of plugins can fail.

2) Double-click on the pkg file and install the full version. The latest versions of the installers are available here.
Please note that the demo versions cannot be unlocked.
Do not delete, move or rename files after you completed the installation, especially not the vst plugin. This can damage the software and cause a crash.

3) If you are on macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or higher you need to reboot your Mac. Otherwise it might not detect new recently installed AudioUnits.

4) Open your DAW and insert the plugin. If you can't find the plugin do a plugin re-scan. Detailed instructions on how to perform a re-scan can be found in your DAW's manual. Reboot the Mac if the plugin still can't be found.
Left-click in the black "Click here to activate the product" box which appears after you loaded the plugin.
Browse-to and select the key-file (e.g. Saurus.t2k) which you received with the email from your order. This activates the full version.
Completely close your DAW, then load your DAW and insert the plugin. You should be able to see the plugin interface now. If this is still not the case reboot your Mac.

UltraSpace / UltraSpace Installer file v1.0...
Last post by EricS - January 10, 2026, 04:29:08 PM
Where is UltraSpace installer file v1.0.2 or greater? I am looking for the installer that is M1 Mac Compatible. The versions on the website are v1.0.1 and are not ARM native. The Installer will place the plugin files into the correct folders (Components, VST) but the plugin will not show up in Live, Reason, Logic, etc. It appears there are no VST3 or AAX versions of this plugin to test.

Quote from: carlo celuque on December 14, 2025, 02:39:02 PMHi,
Recently I have noticed an issue while using Tone 2 Icarus 2 on Sonar Cakewalk! When the Synth GUI is opened I can't change any Volume fader control on Cakewalk track! But if I close Icarus then I can move the faders normally! There must be something related with Icarus GUI and Cakewalk! Any help?
Thank you.

I just tried that in Cakewalk by Bandlab (latest free version) and in the free tier of Sonar by Cakewalk.
I have Icarus 3.

It works fine here, no focus issues.

Icarus / Re: Icarus feature requests

Sorry if someone else already asked for this:

I'd like if the dropdown menus would highlight whichever the choice was from, just to make it easier to find it again and use related types.

For instance - on the Synthesis/Morph mode tab, when it drops down, it would be nice to have which category it comes from.  So if I see "Spirit" on that tab, and I click on it, it would highlight "Lofi" in the dropdown so I can find where it originates from.   :)

I didn't find time to create one with Granular. I'll add more videos after the release of Icarus 3.2.

Awesome, thanks Markus!
