Title: Hiding the tooltips
Post by: Markus Krause on September 08, 2020, 01:22:26 PM
There is a hidden function to hide the tooltips.

PC:
Place a file called IcarusTooltips.cfg in ....\Icarus_data\
Then restart the plugin.

Mac:
place a file called IcarusTooltips.cfg in Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Icarus_data/
Then restart the plugin/host.

Nothing happened on Windows 10. What tooltips do you mean? The red & blue value boxes?
They are still there.

Edit:
Got it! Thanks.
Is there a way to hide the value boxes as well?

You can hide these ones only in Saurus v2.6, since it is an 'analog synth'.
Hiding the red & blue value boxes in Icarus would make the synth difficult to use, since they contain essential info. It is also something that has not been requested so far.

Ok. No problem. I was just curious.

Hi Markus,

This workaround didn't work for me either. I'm on a Mac.
Sent you an email about it.

I think it's a sensible feature to be able to hide tool tip boxes from the setting page, since after a few hours you learn what each knob does and the labels become quite redundant.

The tool-tips box can also get in the way of actually grabbing hold of the knobs using a mouse.

Also if you are like me using a larger mouse pointer because of limited eyesight, then the mouse pointer is often hiding the values displayed by the tool-tips box.

The numeric values of  the knob change could be displayed without a box or parameter label, hopefully above not below the knob so the mouse pointer doesn't hide it.

Thank you.
