Pity it is not available on the Mac too.
(yes I saw your kvr post on why it isn't) Never the less, still a pity.

Thanks for the skin!

I see that the skin is only usable with the Large and Normal sizes, is it not possible to create skins for the small size UI? I can use Normal, but I am still on 1920*1080 for the moment  :(

Cheers

If there was a way to make this compatible on both Mac and PC I would be willing to purchase it.

Hi Richard,

I don't want to make money with the skin and would be pleased to see it working for everyone who wants to use it.
I have no idea why exactly this is not working on MacOS.
Maybe Markus can come up with a workaround or something.

Please ask him!

Greets!

By the way. I did some minor changes.
Maybe someone is interested.
To use the smallest UI size the "1253x735" has to be removed from the filename.

Apple decided to introduce 'Software Notarisation' a while ago.  Apple advertises that this enhances security. Here .components and .pkg files need to be code-signed.
However Code-signing is completely useless for plugins, since plugins were never an attack-vector for hackers. The target group is simply too small. In practice it means just an additional hassle for developers and makes it difficult to do skinning on the Mac.
If I remember it correctly code-signing for plugins was introduced by Apple just because one well-known VST developer (which calls himself an expert for the Mac) suggested code-siging for plugins towards Apple. The developer ( I will not post names here) did this because he thought code-siging would make his plugins 'more difficult to crack'.

Markus, are there any special names that can be used so that all three sizes can be easily obtained on PC from just choosing size, rather than have to have the option of only two not three and renaming 1253x735 one.....
hope that makes sense.
As I said on kvr. I found a way to let it work on mac (at least in 10.14.6), and it calls for the renaming of the three files with specific names and replaces those within the mac package (use at your own risk).
But on the mac now all three sizes work from the GUI.

Anyway to do that on PC?
thanks

The skin really looks fantastic! Thanks for creating it.

On PC you can use /Icarus_data/Icarus2SkinSmall.png and /Icarus_data/Icarus2SkinLarge.png to import custom skins . The files are loaded when the plugin is loaded. In Icarus 2 only up to 2 skins can be overwritten. Please note that this is a hidden feature for development and not officially supported.
Future PC versions will also support /Icarus_data/Icarus2SkinSmaller.png

On Mac the custom skins most likely will work with Icarus2.0. But they might not longer work with future updates, because Apple made the Notarisation more strict in 2020. As a result plugins might fail scanning and be not longer visible in some hosts when you change the resources of plugins which have been Notarized after 2020. Then it is possible that the VST still works, but the Audiunit not. I think there existis a workaround to switch off the Notarisation from the user-side, but do not longer remember how.

Thanks.
Why not work out something with the creator of the skin to make it an official skin that way it will be notarised from your end too.

But what if someone makes a skin that you find more pleasing than this one.
Then Markus would have to change it again.
And what if other people do not like it at all. *Just thinking

I'm happy that skinnig is even an option (at least on Windows).
Hopefully there will be a way to keep it possible on Mac too. Since Mac people tend to be more creative we might have more skins in the future. :)

That would be awesome! I'm a huge fan of UI-design and would love to see more skins.

Keep in mind that adding large png files to the binary slows down loading times significantly and increases the size of the installers.

Is that how others do it?
