Title: Shifting the phase of a wavetable
Post by: abject39 on February 21, 2019, 02:36:16 AM
Having issues with a wavetable file. I've imported a recorded triangle waveform. The phase of it isn't aligned to 0. This is what it looks like https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnhYfvhn4oMAu958vQvng0u6_quslw (https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnhYfvhn4oMAu958vQvng0u6_quslw). I want to shift it over so that it aligns like this https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnhYfvhn4oMAu959o_frsC82NXj9tA (https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnhYfvhn4oMAu959o_frsC82NXj9tA). I tried setting the phase to 0 but that seems to set all phases of all partials to -100 (weird that it calls it 0 but no big deal). I tried using the rotation function but it isn't completely precise. Is there a precise way to shift the waveform so that the zero crossing point aligns to the beginning and end of the waveform?

The phase allignment of the partials from a triangle is not 0. It is 90 degrees.

In the wavetable editor:

1) Phase-> Set to value 25 (=90 degrees) to set the phase allignment of the partials
2) Phase-> Rotate 25 to move the zero crossing to the start

Worked like a charm! I see I have quite a bit to learn to get this fully understood. Is an updated manual coming that explains this more? Current options like rotate aren't in it at all.
