Minor bug or just strange behaviour: When I'm in the browser window and I click on or near the INFO sign, the preset selection jumps to the first preset of the current category (e.g. bass / arpeggio etc.)

Cheers

Thank you for your feedback.

@bodiah22:

Thanks for reporting it. I can confirm it and will fix this.

@bmanic:

I will check out, if it is possible to change the behaviour. However i must make sure that it does not affect the sound of the patches.

@Dumbo:

I can't reproduce it on my computer. Where exactly do you click? Have you installed additional expansions/soundsets?

Best Regards,
Markus

I have the electronic expansion installed. When I open the patch browser, I select any patch, then I click on the INFO letters, or somewhere in the grey area that surrounds them. Then the browser jumps to the first patch (e.g. Welcome) of the selected category (in this case Arpeggiator).
If I am the only one who encounters this, I'll just don't klick there... :P

Cheers

Hello Dumbo,

thank you for the info.
I will check out if i can reproduce it with the expansion installed. I guess it is a simple bug.

Hey Markus, while you're doing this work on Gladiator, is there any chance you could add legato support for monophonic patches? That's one of the few things this synth is missing in my opinion and now may be a good time to add such a feature if it isn't too complicated.  :)

Hello Bodiah22,

i agree that legato would be a nice addition. Unfortunately it is not an easy task at all. The HCM synthesis engine has not been designed for doing this. It could result in a lot of crackling. I will take a close look if it is possible.

Thanks for looking into this. Hopefully you can find a way to implement it but I understand if it's too problematic :)

"I found the culprit that destroyed the new patchbrowser. To recreate: Open Gladiator. Click "Rename" on the first patch (welcome). Just delete the text in the name window, without entering something, so the field is blank. Now change to a different category or save the patch with the windows naming options (save as). Now all following patches in the same category only show in the old browser, but in the new browser it seems that there are none, it is completely empty (or if you do that e.g. with the 8th patch, only the first seven are shown. If you now save the complete category as a bank and reload it, you get a total mess, as all following banks only show "init+number".
My suggestion would be to not allow entering no name in the rename field or have a "dummy" text, that does appear if nothing is entered...
Or you probably have a better idea... Wink

After deleting this one bad patch, the method of creating own banks you mentioned above worked totally ok!"

Are the 3 additional skins for the Electronic expansion updated too, Markus? I'm thinking of purchasing it but I'd like to be able to use the skins in a higher-res.

Quote from some posts back:

"Are the coloured skins gone or will they be back in the future.
Was trying to get back my red but changing skin.txt value doesn't seem to have an effect."

Answer from Markus:
"They are still here. But only if you still use the small editor size.
They will not be re-rendered for the large one. Reason: It would need pretty much additonal RAM, which is rare on 32bit hosts. Furthermore the dll would get pretty large, which mean slower loading times."

Cheers

Dumbo ;)

Feature request: "load a random preset for patch browser"
"I like how Tone2 synth sounds load VERY fast, so yes, it would be awesome if I could load a random one! There does appear to be space in the full patch browser. :)"

Out of curiosity, Gladiator 2 supports the pitchwheel right? Why is it hard to implement monophonic portamento/legato if smooth pitch transitions can be done using that?

Thanks again for this update to Gladiator by the way. Love seeing this happen . :)

The problem is the voice handling and Mono/Legato requires a different triggering of the envelopes and lfos than in polyphonic mode.
