KVR quotes pricing as:
Price: €149 / $179.
Upgrade Price: €79 / $89.
The upgrade is free for everyone who purchased the product through www.tone2.com after April 2019.

Is the grace period from 1st April or 1st May?

As much as Icarus is my favourite Tone2 synth, that upgrade price, if true to me is way too much.

If there was an intro upgrade discount fee however I might be more persuaded.

I'm also feeling it too pricey for many reasons, I had Icarus barely 1 year ago and some people might have Icarus perhaps just a little before april or may and now they would need to pay that upgrade price.

Another thing is how I would buy other tone2 synths if the newer version of some of those synths is coming in perhaps in 1 year (electra or nemesis or other) then I would need to pay something like that, I would not feel too motivated if at least some intro price were available.

And there is not news about any of that, an introductory price would be nice.

How will be the memory usage of one instance of Icarus 2 ?

Since I bought Icarus 1.6 some days ago I detected that the more Instances I load it uses less memory, but it remains with about 100 MB per instance.
Will Icarus uses significantly more (maybe 150 MB) ?
I am asking because I want to use many instances but not want the system to run out of memory.

Sorry. I forgot to answer this one.
Icarus2 has a much bigger interface and more features. That why each intance needs around 200MB.
If you are on 64 bit you do not have to care about the memory use at all.  The OS automatically manages this. You will be able to load as many intances as you want.

Please note that the deveopment of Icarus2 was more than one year of work and we invested over €10.000 for paying professional sound-designers and artists. We do lots of free updates, but we can't do everything for free.

The price of €149 if already low for the feature-set that Icarus2 has. Originally we had planned €199.
€79 upgrade price for 400 new sounds + wavetables + samples + drum patterns + turning a synth into a workstation is also fair.
We also offer a grace period of 8 months where users get the upgrade for free.

We regularly will release big and free updates for Icarus2 with lots of new features. You will be able to download them for free here (as well as the many free updates for the other products):
https://www.tone2.com/download.html

There are no plans for paid updates in the future or new products.
Icarus2 most likely will be the final synth that we will do.

Hope all is well with T2.

Please could you confirm the actual cutoff date for the grace period, as some people such as myself purchased during April.

Don't say that Markus, Your synths and type of synthesis are the most unique arguably in the entire world and we hope for long life, big evolutions of your creations and the best for Tone2 always. Long life for you and Tone2  :)

As in from April 1st....to include purchases in April?

From April the first till the release of Icarus2

Hi Markus, will be there plans for multi-touch capability for the screen of monitors and laptops support, in the previous Icarus 1.6 it was only possible to tweak one knob at a time but not multiple in real time, it would be really nice to be able play I2 in real-time with this possibility with touch screen monitors/laptops if possible.  :)

Hi Junior S,

Single touch should work.
For multi-touch I must check out the technical sheets first. At least on Windows it should be possible.

Markus

That would be cool, my humble dell is touchscreen  :)

Just got the email for the link and key for Icarus2 RC1. Working beautifully, and what a gem it is! Thanks for an amazing product and your endless creativity, Markus.

Thank you for the nice feedback Michael

We started to send out the updates today. Since we do it manually it will take till tomorrow evening till all mails have been sent.
