We are pleased to announce that we've worked together with the guys at DNR Designs, allowing all Tone2 customers to purchase Wave Designer for only $39.00 USD (normal price: $79.00 USD)

Wave Designer is a very unique and useful tool, that allows users to create waveforms and export them to a .wav format file in order to be used as oscillators for synthesizers which support loading single-cycle waveforms.
Good examples of these are our own Rayblaster & ElectraX synthesizers, using these waves is as simple as creating them in Wave Designer, save and importing your wave into for example Rayblaster's oscillators.
It may also be interesting to know that Wave Designer was used during Rayblaster's development, and will be used intensively during other projects.

* please note that Wave Designer is currently Windows only, Mac OSX support is planned.

How to order?

To receive the crossgrade order link, contact Tone2 support (tone2@tone2.com) with your Shareit / Best Service order number.

DNR Wave Designer

Wave Designer is a very unique and useful tool, that allows users to create waveforms and export them to a .wav format file in order to be used as oscillators for synthesizers which support loading single-cycle waveforms. Wave Designer is provided as a plug-in instrument (VSTi), allowing users to create waveforms visually and then preview the sounds in real-time with their MIDI keyboard.

Basic Concept

The concept was created originally for sound designers who are tired of having very few tools to create single-cycle waveforms, and even more tired of not having a quick and painless method of exporting those waveforms in standard formats without having to fiddle around with 5 separate applications just to get a single waveforms created properly. Since then, though, we have added significant functionality, as well as accrued quite a list of possible features that would make the tool into a set of tools, and would give it a broad market appeal to just about anyone who makes music.

Screenshot

Below is a screenshot of the most recent version of Wave Designer. As time goes on, we will be adding more features and options for exporting particular formats, and we will continue to update the page so that the newest current iterations are available right here. This particular screenshot shows the formula editor, utilizing the new noise(x) function, which allows users to create random waveforms with very little effort, and the ability to set the amount of randomness (from 0.0 to 1.0).

Initial Functionality

The following is a list of features that the current iteration of Wave Designer currently contains.

  • Node Editing: You can now design waveforms visually with the node editing features included in Wave Designer. The node editing screen allows 128 individual nodes to move, as well as a secondary approximation graph to show the curve of the waveform.
  • Math Formula Editing: You can design waveforms with the included formula editor to build complex waveforms.
  • Basic synthesizer controls: While designing your waveforms in a VSTi enabled host, you can also control the output with an ADSR Envelope, Filter Envelope, Lowpass Filter and Master Volume
  • .WAV Export: After creating your waveforms, you can then export them to either a standard 2048 sample single-cycle waveform for importing into many types of synthesizers, or you can choose to utilize the custom sample length ability for synthesizers which support larger or smaller size waveforms.

Sad sad sad news...

"It is with a broken heart that I inform you that at just after 2pm yesterday afternoon, Reason Lahalla lost a long battle with his health but is now finally at peace for once. He had been in the hospital for some time now and was expecting to come home soon, but there were ultimately other plans in store for him that we did not expect, nor were we prepared for. He was 33 years old but had been struggling for years with drug and alcohol addition, which significantly damaged his health. Please pray for our family during this time as we try to figure out how to move on.

I hardly know what to say. I added a reply to that KVR thread now.

Reason was such a cool guy and i had lots of fun with his Wave Designer plugin and talking with him about it at some KVR threads.

Next times when i use Wave Designer i'll start crying i guess. To be honest i already lost a few tears now...
