Title: Icarus 3 and MPE
Post by: Rich on July 13, 2024, 12:57:06 PM
Hi,

So MPE works really well apart from a couple of situations which could well be intended, but different from my experience with other synths.

I am using a Seaboard Rise 2 in Bitwig (VST2 & 3). If I have Monophonic selected then sliding between notes no longer works. Only the initial pressed note sounds. A similar situation when the Arp is engaged, only the initially pressed notes sound, any sliding of my fingers has no effect.

Is this a bug or intended behaviour?

Cheers

MPE means "MIDI Polyphonic Expression". Technically it doesn't make sense to combine it with mono or legato modes as these modes are not polyphonic and only have a single voice. In short MPE must used it with polyphonic patches. To switch a patch from monophonic to polyphonic click in the "Voices and Legato selector" on the top right of the synth and select "polyphonic 16".

Best Regards,
Markus

Hi,

thanks for getting back to me.

Yeah I know what MPE stands for, I was just basing my findings on using other MPE compatible synths where mono still allows you to slide between notes. Obviously they are other synths and you have your own implementation, understandably so.

Cheers

I took care of this in Icarus 3.1. Monophonic/Legato patches do work fine now with the Seaboard/MPE.
